Bosch expanding its Polish abrasive materials factory

Swiss-based sia Abrasives, a Bosch subsidiary, has begun expanding its facility in the Goleniow Industrial Park in north-western Poland.

"After the expansion sia Abrasives will become the third-largest employer in the Goleniow Industrial Park (GPP), employing some 400 people", the Goleniow mayor's GPP advisor Pawel Bartoszewski has told PAP. Today the company employs 140 people.

The project involves expanding the headquarters of Polish company BTS, an abrasive materials packing and distribution business that sia Abrasives took over in April.

"The investment encompasses the construction of a production part and a warehouse and logistics part, in total 3 hectares of roofed space", Bartoszewski added.

The expanded factory is to launch production next autumn.

The Swiss company is a leading global manufacturer of coated abrasives and sanding systems employing 1,300 people at branches in 80 countries.

The Goleniow Industrial Park is home to almost 50 companies, of which more than half have started production. Further investments and expansions are also planned by LM Wind Power Blades of Denmark and Belgium's Faymonville, a manufacturer of specialist trailers. (PAP)
