The new centre, to employ 130 persons, is to be ready in mid-2017. Currently the plant employs 2,500 people. The project foresees the construction of a 6,500 square metre production hall.

Up to now, the Starachowice plant produced low-floor bus chassis. Thanks to the new investment Starachowice will begin the production of high-floor bus and coach chassis which have been manufactured at MAN's German plant in Salzgitter.

The plant is also in the process of preparing for the production of roofs for sandwich-type buses. So far the plant had to import such roofs from Germany or Switzerland. The project is to be ready by the end of this year.

Two months ago, the Starachowice plant inaugurated the assembling of MAN city buses. (PAP)
