President Andrzej Duda was voted the Polish politician of the year 2016 in a survey by pollster CBOS.
Duda won the poll with 12 percent of the vote, ahead of Prime Minister Beata Szydlo with 8 percent, and ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski with 4 percent.

Former Prime Minister Donald Tusk, now head of the European Council, the European Union’s top political institution, was in fourth place with 3 percent, and deputy Prime Minister and Development and Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was fifth with 2 percent.
CBOS said 58 percent of respondents could not or did not want to name a single public figure who would in their opinion merit the title of Polish politician of the year. Twenty-six percent of those polled said not a single politician "did anything special to merit the title."
Duda was previously voted Polish politician of the year 2015 after his electoral triumph last year, but this year his result was about 3 percentage points better, according to CBOS.
CBOS said it carried out the survey on Dec. 1-11 on a representative random sample of 1,136 adult respondents using the computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) method. (PAP)
