Polish twin-engine plane to be shown in Latin America
Polish twin-engine cargo and passenger plane PZL M28 will be presented in seven countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The aircraft will also take part in a military exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
The plane's manufacturer, PZL Mielec plant in south Poland, has said in a statement that the aircraft will visit 13 cities in two months. The plane will be piloted by a Polish crew, who will be supported by a team of engineers.
The M28 presentations will start in mid-March in Trinidad and Tobago. The machine will then be shown in Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama and Mexico.
The presentations are to underline the plane's ability to take off from short, rudimentary landing strips and to be quickly reconfigured.
Potential clients include airlines, government agencies and armed forces.
In early April the aircraft will be presented at the LAAD Defence and Security Exhibition in Rio de Janeiro.
The M28 is a tested, robust and reliable plane that can operate in the most difficult conditions and with minimum external assistance, according to PZL Mielec's CEO Janusz Zakrecki, as quoted in the company's statement.
About a hundred M28 planes are operated in the world, serving both civilian and military purposes.
The Polish Navy and Air Force use the M28B Bryza version for maritime surveillance and transport.
PZL Mielec is owned by US producer Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company. (PAP)
