During a joint press conference, the Polish head of state said his talks with Pellegrini covered a broad range of topics, including political, economic and infrastructure issues. Pellegrini pledged that Slovakia was committed to completing the R4 expressway, the Slovak section of the Via Carpatia route that will connect the Baltic, Black, and Aegean Seas.

Nawrocki, in turn, told his Slovak counterpart that Poland could become a "genuine hub" for US LNG deliveries to Slovakia, which remains highly dependent on Russian fossil fuels. He also acknowledged Slovakia's leading position in ammunition production within Europe and noted that the country was considering the purchase of Poland's version of the South Korean K2PL tanks.

The president also addressed the ongoing migration challenges, saying that both Poland and Slovakia oppose any mandatory migration quotas under the EU's so-called migration pact — a solidarity mechanism that allows member states to choose between relocating asylum seekers or providing financial contributions. He expressed hope that Hungary and the Czech Republic would support this stance during the upcoming Visegrad Group summit. (PAP)yb/jch
