Adam Szlapka said that, during the meeting, the ministers decided to accelerate the procedures for acquiring drone and anti-drone systems and delegate the decision-making process to the defence ministry.

"We are all aware of how difficult the situation is. The Ministry of National Defence should not face any additional institutional obstacles when taking decisions on these matters," he added.

On the night of September 9-10, during a Russian attack on Ukraine, Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones. Those that posed a direct threat were shot down.

Drone incidents have also recently occurred in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Danish police confirmed drone flights over four airports on the Jutland Peninsula and over several military facilities in the country last week. Danish authorities described it as a "hybrid attack," but have not attributed responsibility. (PAP)
