Poland, Germany, Norway to donate USD 500 mln for US arms to Kyiv
Poland, Germany, and Norway will contribute USD 500 million to purchase American weapons for Ukraine, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said.
Sikorski announced the news during the joint conference with his German and Norwegian counterparts, Johann Wadephul and Espen Barth Eide, before a NATO meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
The Polish minister expressed hope that the move will be recognised by the Americans and Ukraine, and will encourage other allies to join the programme.
The three countries will join NATO's Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, providing military equipment purchased from the US to Kyiv. Since the August launch, the Ukraine allies contributed USD 4 billion to the aid package, according to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. (PAP)
