Poland should support Israel in fight with Iran says a deputy FM
A Polish deputy foreign minister has expressed the view that Poland should aid Israel in its conflict with Iran, saying that the issue is no different from the war in Ukraine.
Andrzej Szejna told private broadcaster Radio Zet on Tuesday that, in his opinion, Poland needed to support Israel which had been recently attacked by Iran, because "the attack was as much a terrorist one as Russia's attack on Ukraine."
He added: "Secondly, we are drawing very wise conclusions from the way Israel is defending itself with the support of the US.
"And thirdly," he continued, "the scale of this attack, using several hundred drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, was two times larger than the one Russia carried out in Ukraine on February 24."
He argued that all this meant that the aim of Iran was to "destroy Israel."
On Saturday night, Iran carried out a strike on Israeli territory, launching over 300 drones and missiles in response to Israel's attack on an Iranian consulate in Damascus that resulted in the death of several high-ranking Iranian officers.
The attack, however, did little damage since most of the missiles were shot down by the forces of Israel, the US, the UK, France and Jordan. (PAP)
