Poland ties GPS jamming in Baltic Sea to Russia
The interference of GPS signals noted over the Baltic Sea is largely associated with Russian activity, Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has reported.
The minister's statement came in response to recent frequent reports by drone owners regarding disrupted GPS signals in the northern part of the country.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Tuesday that interference had been observed over the Baltic Sea, including by allied countries. "According to our sources, these activities are linked to the operations of the Russian Federation, including sabotage attempts."
The minister also reported on a dedicated security committee that convened a few weeks ago, which provided military and commercial aviation authorities with relevant guidelines on this matter.
Furthermore, he spoke about the recently signed Baltic Declaration, which obliges its signatories, namely Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Finland and Denmark, to deliver a collective response in the event of threats to the Baltic waters, foreign diversions or sabotage. (PAP)
