"We have identical views with Great Britain and the British prime minister on the situation in Ukraine, on Russia's aggression, on what should be done and in what way with regard to support for Ukraine," Tusk said after a meeting with Keir Starmer in Warsaw on Friday.

He added that Poland and Great Britain would closely cooperate in this matter, sharing tasks and exchanging information.

The Polish prime minister praised "especially close and good Polish-British relations," and underlined that the two countries trusted each other "in these difficult times of geopolitical uncertainty, radical changes, and the war going on close to our border."

According to Tusk, this confidence is priceless, and the principles that link the two countries and which are "visible to the naked eye" let Poland and Britain count on each other.

Tusk thanked Starmer for his commitment to the signing in the near future of a document on cooperation in security and defence.

He also said that sea security was one of the subjects of his conversation with Starmer, and declared that Poland and Great Britain would cooperate in this field, both in the Baltic and North Sea regions.

"We managed to mobilise our Scandinavian partners and Finland, Germany has recently taken part in talks on the enhanced presence and NATO operations, NATO infrastructure, NATO ships, with regard to security in the Baltic Sea," Tusk continued.

"We will effectively prevent acts of sabotage and we will operate in a determined way if something bad happened in the Baltic Sea," Tusk said, adding that Finland had already taken such steps.

Tusk thanked Starmer for the engagement of Great Britain and British troops in Poland. "In the near future your planes will be to a considerable degree responsible for the safety of our skies," Tusk said.

But at the same time Tusk declared that Poland had been building an army which, "in the future, will ensure full security not only to our country but also to the entire region." (PAP)
