Poles among passengers of coach which crashed in Germany near Polish border
Polish citizens were among the passengers of a Flixbus coach travelling from Germany to Poland which had an accident on the A11 highway near the Polish border two days earlier, German police has told PAP.
The coach heading for the Polish city of Szczecin most likely veered off the road shortly after the Uckermark motorway junction, hit a barrier and flipped on its side at around 3pm on Saturday killing two and injuring 11 of 13 passengers on board.
The fatalities were a 48-year-old German citizen and a 29-year-old woman from an Eastern European country who has not yet been identified, Brandenburg police said.
There were also citizens of Ukraine, Russia, Syria and Pakistan among the passengers.
According to Brandenburg police Sunday statement, adverse weather conditions were the probable cause of the accident but the exact circumstances of the accident are being established. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Pawel Wronski told PAP on Monday that among the severely injured was a woman with Polish citizenship, but he did not provide any more information. (PAP)
