In 2022, the average working week for people aged 20-64 in the EU was 37.5 hours, according to Eurostat, the EU's statistics office.

Meanwhile, according to an analysis conducted by Preply, an education platform, based on Eurostat data, the average working week in Poland amounts to 40.5 hours.

Greeks topped the ranking with 41.0 hours worked per week whereas Romania and Bulgaria followed Poland with 40.2 working hours weekly in each country.

The Netherlands had the shortest working week (33.2 hours), followed by Germany (35.3) and Denmark (35.4).

In mid-March, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bak, the Polish minister of family, labour and social policy, said she would be in favour of shortening the working week to four days, if she won a second term in office.

She added that she had commissioned the Central Institute for Labour Protection (CIOP) to analyse work efficiency in relation to the number of hours worked per week. (PAP)
