Polish company plans to produce 150,000 shells annually
Polish defence manufacturer Mesko is ramping up its production capabilities to deliver up to 150,000 artillery shells annually as part of a major contract with the Polish Armed Forces.
Renata Gruszczynska, Mesko's CEO, said on Monday that the company is expanding its technological and production capacity at its plant in Krasnik, eastern Poland, which is key to the manufacture of 155 millimetre shell cases. At the same time, the firm is working to acquire the capability to produce modular charges for 155 millimetre ammunition at its plant in Pionki, central Poland.
"We are currently preparing a business plan on the matter and are seeking funding," she said.
In late 2024, Mesko acquired land and equipment in Krasnik to expand its production facilities. The company upgraded machinery and introduced new lines to boost automation, efficiency, and local employment.
With government funding, Mesko aims to produce 150,000 units of 155 millimetre shells annually. In 2025, it will expand its production hall, with completion expected by late 2027.
As part of the Polish Armaments Group, Mesko is supplying 155 millimetre shells to the Polish Armed Forces under a 2024-2029 contract. (PAP)
