Around 100 tractors and agricultural machinery appeared at the crossing in Chyzne. All trucks coming from Slovakia are blocked, and those leaving Poland are being controlled by the farmers.

As previously agreed, one truck per hour is being allowed through.

"We focus primarily on goods transported in isotherm trucks and semi-trailers, where we do not see what goods are being transported," said Pawel Dziubek, the leader of the protesters. "We are against importing poor quality food from Ukraine, because we have enough of our own food products.

"We want to produce food and we don't want to be limited," he added.

The protest in the form of blocking the border crossing in Chyzne was formally reported to the local authority office in Jablonka, Malopolska region, last week. According to the submitted notification, it is to last until the end of March and will be a "protest against the uncontrolled inflow of grain from Ukraine into the European Union, which is causing destabilisation on the grain market and causing a difficult economic situation for farmers, as well as against the so-called (European) Green Deal".
