"Poland’s GDP rose by 3.2 percent in the first quarter, clearly faster than the EU average," Domanski said on Thursday in response to data from Poland’s stats office GUS. "In the coming quarters, we expect acceleration primarily due to growing investment," he added.

According to the preliminary estimate published by GUS, Poland’s GDP increased by 3.2 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 3.4 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024. Quarter-on-quarter, GDP grew by 0.7 percent in the first quarter, following a 1.4 percent increase in the previous quarter.

He added that in 2025 as a whole, the Polish economy would be one of the fastest-growing in the EU.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk also responded to the GUS estimates on X.

"Economic growth in Poland 3.2. And in the three largest EU economies? France 0.8, Italy 0.6, Germany minus 0.2! So, complainers and doubters - feeling stupid now?" he wrote.

Full data for first-quarter GDP will be released by GUS on June 2. (PAP)
