The three met in Poland's eastern city of Lublin on Wednesday to mark the fifth anniversary of the Lublin Triangle, a format of regional cooperation between the three countries.

"Our cooperation testifies to the need to adapt to the current political conditions on the international arena, to react quickly to threats to the security of both our region and the whole of Europe," Sikorski said at a press conference.

"The Lublin Triangle promotes democratic, parliamentary values," he added.

"The Lublin Triangle has supported and will continue to support the heroically fighting Ukraine," the Polish foreign minister pledged.

Sikorski went on to say that Poland had already supplied 45 packages of various weaponry and ammunition to Ukraine.

"We're working on further supplies," he continued. "So far, Poland has spent EUR 4 billion on this aid, not including the coordination of military equipment supplies from other nations and humanitarian aid offered by third countries."

Sikorski recalled that Poland and Lithuania had been supporting Ukraine in the face of the Russian aggression and had been advocating for their neighbour on international fora.

Sybiha wrote on X: "Ukraine, Poland, and Lithuania's unity has been critical in countering Moscow's aggressive policies throughout centuries. It remains critical today as we work toward our common future in the EU and NATO, as well as our shared vision of a strong, united, and secure Europe."

The Lublin Triangle was set up on July 28, 2020 with the aim of increased political, economic, cultural and social cooperation between Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine. (PAP)
