Recently inaugurated President Nawrocki appoints members of his office
On Thursday, Polish President Karol Nawrocki appointed new members to the President’s Office, as well as a new head of the national security agency, and referred to them as "patriots" and "hard-working individuals."
On the day after taking the oath of office, Nawrocki appointed Zbigniew Bogucki, a member of the socially conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, to head the Presidential Chancellery.
Bogucki was not the only PiS politician appointed by Nawrocki, who himself was backed by the party during his presidential campaign. Pawel Szefernaker, the PiS politician who previously led Nawrocki's electoral campaign, takes the new head chief-of-staff post, while MP Marcin Przydacz (PiS), a former deputy foreign minister, will oversee international policy.
Meanwhile, Slawomir Cieckiewicz will lead the National Security Bureau (BBN), the body aimed at advising the president on defence and national security. Cieckiewicz previously chaired the Military Historical Bureau and served on the board of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) from 2016 to 2021, an institution that Nawrocki managed from 2021 to 2025.
In his remarks regarding his selections, the newly sworn-in Nawrocki said that his appointees came from diverse backgrounds and were dedicated patriots and hardworking individuals whose primary goal was to serve the Polish people.
"I am not inviting you to celebrate my presidency or your ministerial positions, but I am inviting you all, starting today, to work hard for the country, because Poland is waiting for it," Nawrocki said on Thursday.
He further characterised Bogucki as an experienced official, while he commended the new BBN chief, Cieckiewicz, as "a man who consistently serves the truth and the Polish national remembrance," and one who was dedicated to the nation's security.
The president also praised Szefernaker, saying he was a politician from a new generation.
"And this composure of Pawel Szefernaker, as the head of the President’s Office, will benefit us all and will be greatly needed in the upcoming five years," Nawrocki remarked.(PAP)
