Rose 'honoured' to be designated as new US ambassador to Poland
Right-wing columnist and radio host Thomas Rose has expressed his honour at being designated by the US Senate to serve as the next US ambassador to Poland.
On Tuesday, the US Senate approved Rose's nomination for the role of US ambassador to Poland, following his appointment by US President Donald Trump in February.
"Deeply honored to be confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Poland," Rose wrote on X on Wednesday. "My mission to serve @POTUS [President of the United States] & American people will be aided by PHENOMENAL @USEmbassyWarsaw."
"ON TO WARSAW," Rose concluded, after thanking Trump and Republican Senator Bill Hagerty.
On Wednesday, the US Embassy in Warsaw also took to X to congratulate Rose on his nomination.
"Congratulations to Thomas Rose on approval of his nomination as US Ambassador to Poland," the embassy wrote. "Ambassador-designate Thomas Rose will lead the US Mission in Warsaw, representing @POTUS in promoting the US-Polish strategic partnership with one of our closest allies."
Rose, who was an advisor to former Republican Vice President Mike Pence, is known for his strong pro-Israeli views. In 1997-2005, he held the position of publisher and CEO of the Jerusalem Post newspaper.
During his July hearing before the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Rose repeatedly praised Poland as an exemplary ally. He said that he would seek to improve relations between Poland and Israel, asserting that Poland was unjustly blamed in Israel for complicity in the Holocaust. He also said that he had excellent relations with both the Polish centrist government and the main opposition party, the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS), and pledged to remain neutral in the Polish political landscape.
