Takeoffs resume in Poland after air traffic management system failure
Flight departures resumed across Polish airports after being halted on Saturday due to a failure in the air traffic management system, Warsaw Chopin Airport told PAP, as services assess the possibility of sabotage.
The incident occurred due to a failure of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency's (PAZP) IT system, the airport told PAP in a statement.
Marcin Hadaj, a spokesperson for PAZP, told private broadcaster TVN24 on Saturday that the situation meant that fewer planes could operate in Polish airspace.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Jacek Dobrzynski, commented on the failure in a post on X, writing: "Immediately after being notified of the failure, Tomasz Siemoniak (the interior minister – PAP) issued orders to the relevant services. The officers of the Internal Security Agency are... verifying the possibility of sabotage." (PAP)yb/aj
