"Providing money in the state budget 2024 for these expenditures will fulfil the (financial – PAP) obligations to millions of Polish women and men," Tusk said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"In the 2024 budget, we have provided funds to increase teachers' average salaries by 30 percent, and in the case of teachers just starting by 33 percent, and we have also remembered pre-school teachers, and here there is an additional PLN 2.3 billion (EUR 53 million) of pre-school subsidies for local governments for increases in kindergartens," he added.

The government will also increase the pay of all public sector employees, such as soldiers and customs officers, by 20 percent. (PAP)
