"Such a GREAT WIN IN POLAND by Karol Nawrocki. He will be a GREAT PRESIDENT! He won because he truly loves the Polish people," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He also posted footage from Saturday's demonstrations organised by the far-right Confederation party under the slogan "Stop immigration!" The video, originally published on TikTok, shows large crowds and includes the caption: "Is Poland setting an example for Europe?" A narrator questions whether such mobilisation would be possible in the United Kingdom.

On Thursday morning Polish time, Trump shared another video from an election rally in Zabrze, southern Poland, where Nawrocki appeared alongside Romanian presidential candidate George Simion. Supporters can be heard chanting "Donald Trump!"

Recently, Szymon Holownia, the speaker of the Polish lower house, scheduled a National Assembly session for August 6, during which Nawrocki will be sworn in as president.

Nawrocki, backed by the socially-conservative and nationalist-leaning Law and Justice (PiS) party, defeated centrist and liberal Civic Coalition (KO) candidate Rafal Trzaskowski in the June 1 runoff, securing 50.89 percent of the vote to Trzaskowski's 49.11 percent.

In Romania, centrist candidate Nicusor Dan won the May 18 runoff with 53.6 percent, defeating Simion, who had led in the first round. (PAP)mj/jch
