On Thursday, the leaders of the parties that constitute Poland's ruling coalition convened to discuss changes needed within the government following the defeat of their presidential candidate in the run-off election held on June 1.

After the meeting, the leaders of junior coalition partners, the Polish People's Party (PSL), Poland 2050 and New Left, affirmed that the coalition agreement established in 2023 remained intact and that they were prepared for a governmental reshuffle.

Holownia told the private broadcaster Polsat News on Friday that the new policy speech, which Tusk is scheduled to present in the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament, on June 11, ahead of the confidence vote in his government, would be consulted with the coalition parties and would encompass a shared political programme and commitments.

"We have another meeting scheduled for Monday," Holownia said. "The prime minister will present a draft of his policy speech and we will work on it," he said, adding that he wanted the confidence vote to be a "true new opening for the coalition".

Poland's current coalition government is composed of the Civic Coalition (KO) and three junior partners: Poland 2050, PSL and the New Left. It was sworn in by President Andrzej Duda on December 13, 2023.

Tusk has asked the parliament for a vote of confidence on June 11 to reaffirm the support for his government. (PAP)
