US President Donald Trump held a 90-minute phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, followed by talks with Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky, in an effort to put an end to the war in Ukraine. However, some of Trump's comments have raised concerns among Western allies of Kyiv that Russia may get to keep some of the Ukrainian land it grabbed, and Ukraine may be barred from joining NATO.

"All we need is peace," Tusk wrote on the X platform on Wednesday evening. "A JUST PEACE. Ukraine, Europe and the United States should work on this together. TOGETHER."

Trump said he and Putin "agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately." (PAP)
