Warsaw says every warning taken seriously after Minsk shares intelligence
The Polish security services treat all information about potential threats with due seriousness, the spokesman for the minister-coordinator of special services said following Belarus's reports of a planned terrorist attack in Poland.
On Thursday, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding a meeting with Krzysztof Ozanna, the Polish charge d'affaires in Belarus, whom they informed about a possible terrorist attack that was reportedly to take place on Polish territory.
According to Minsk, "a person currently in Poland, who was convicted in the Republic of Belarus under several articles of the Criminal Code and who was recently stripped by the Polish authorities of additional protection and the right to reside in the country, is planning a terrorist attack." The individual is allegedly plotting to take revenge on a Belarusian activist residing in Poland for her insufficient help in retaining the aforementioned resident permit by targeting her children.
Later that day, Jacek Dobrzynski refused to comment to PAP on the reports, citing confidentiality of the services' operations.
However, he reaffirmed that the Polish security services never downplay any cause for concern and "treat all information regarding potential threats with due seriousness and resolve." (PAP)
