Poland's inflation to stay around 3 pct in Q4, says central bank head
Since inflation prospects for the coming months have improved, inflation will remain at a level close to 3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, the governor of Poland's central bank NBP has said.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Adam Glapinski said that since the president had finally signed into law a bill freezing energy prices, they would not go up until the end of the year. "As a result, the current forecasts show that inflation will stay at around 3 percent in the three last months of the year," he said.
Glapinski said that the central bank wanted to reach the 2.5 percent inflation target, with a margin of 1 percentage point, and that the current inflation level was satisfying.
Referring to possible risks, Glapinski said that the introduction of the ETS2 system in Poland, currently planned for 2027, could significantly increase inflation even by 2 percentage points as well as home demand, which would stimulate economic growth but, at the same time, could lead to inflation rise.
According to Glapinski, another risk to the the central bank's target could be posed by heightened core inflation. (PAP)
