Nawrocki summons Cabinet Council to discuss finances, bills

Poland's new President Karol Nawrocki has scheduled a Cabinet Council meeting for August 27 to discuss the state of public finances and presidential bills that he has submitted to the lower chamber, Nawrocki's spokesperson has said.

"Today, the president informed the prime minister (Donald Tusk - PAP) and they agreed that the council will gather on August 27," said Pawel Szefernaker during a press conference held on Thursday, which took place after Nawrocki met with Tusk at the Presidential Palace.

According to Szefernaker, the gathering will focus on "the state of public finances as well as constitutional and developmental issues" concerning the bills that the president has submitted to the Sejm, the lower house of parliament.

The Cabinet Council is comprised of the government and is presided over by the president.

Nawrocki was inaugurated on August 6, which marked the beginning of his five-year term.(PAP)
