Following a European Union summit that ended in Brussels on Friday, Morawiecki told reporters that EU leaders had agreed that the European Peace Facility, which is used to fund the supply of arms to Ukraine, would amount to EUR 3.5 billion over the coming months, and that "most of the funds will also go to Poland."

"By Easter, Poland will receive up to EUR 300 million in compensation for weapons transferred to Ukraine; in the following months we will receive an additional EUR 500-600 million," Morawiecki said.

Warsaw will be the biggest beneficiary of the European Peace Facility, he added and that is "a huge success for Poland... that's what we've been striving for."

"In place of the older weapons that we transferred to Ukraine, we will be able to use European money to buy very modern weapons, ammunition, create new technology lines for the production of ammunition and various types of weapons." Morawiecki said.

He also pledged that he would continue his efforts to make the European Peace Facility as generous as possible. (PAP)
