Polish miner missing after tremor rescued

Rescue teams on Wednesday found the last missing miner following a Tuesday evening tremor that hit a Polish copper mine.

The miner from the Rudna mine, south-western Poland, saved his life by hiding inside a mining machine, the KGHM Polska Miedz copper concern said on Wednesday announcing the good news. According to the company, the miner was able to leave the machine's cabin on his own.  

The Tuesday tremor occurred underground, "at a depth of 770 metres," according to a press statement.

Thirteen out of fourteen miners who went missing after the tremor were found on Tuesday evening. All together there were 32 miners in the affected area, some of them were transported to nearby hospitals with various injuries. (PAP)
