The Guido mine is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Poland's southern Slaskie province. Two existing underground routes at depths of 170 metres and 320 metres draw in at least 100,000 visitors every year (135,000 in 2014).

The new route, which is described as "extreme", will take tourists to a coal longwall 355 metres beneath the surface.

"Sightseeing along this route will include some three hours of attractions. It will be quite a strenuous route, with elements of mining work that is actually done at coal faces", Zabrze Coal Mining Museum spokesman Andrzej Mitek has told PAP.

Tourists will be outfitted with typical miner's equipment, including flannel shirts, rubber boots, helmets and lamps. (PAP)
