West and Ukraine will lose if Russia dictates its peace terms, says Tusk
The West and Ukraine will lose the war if Russia succeeds in dividing them and imposing peace terms, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said amid the renewed attempts to end the nearly four-year-old conflict.
On Saturday evening, Tusk spoke with other country leaders, including those of Ukraine and Europe, about the chances for peace, following a Russian attack on Kyiv. He reported there was a consensus on the need for "concrete and reliable" security guarantees for Ukraine.
"After nighttime talks with European leaders, one thing is certain: The West and Ukraine will lose this confrontation if Russia succeeds in dividing us and dictating peace terms," the prime minister wrote on X on Monday. "A success is the US declaration of participation in security guarantees. But the talks are still far from over."
On Sunday, the Ukrainian and American presidents met in Florida, USA, for yet another round of peace talks, followed by a video conference with European leaders. Poland was represented by President Karol Nawrocki. (PAP)
