"In the coming weeks, we want to present the foundations of a new economic programme of great investment importance, also in the area of health care and housing,"  Morawiecki told news portal Wirtualna Polska.

He added that the programme will address the main issues already emerging in the post-covid world, such as problems related to modernisation of the economy. The launch of the new scheme will be preceded by a series of debates with entrepreneurs, he said.

Morawiecki explained that incentives are needed for "the transatlantic world to integrate the various production and structural links".

"This includes the transfer to Poland or Central Europe of various parts of the supply and production chain, but also huge investments in health protection and modern education" - he said.

Morawiecki also vowed significant investments in energy infrastructure and clean air.

"We will urge local governments to stop building cities of concrete and create green zones. And let's not forget about the development of nuclear energy," he added.

Morawiecki said that the state budget deficit after November reached PLN 13.2 billion (EUR 2.9 billion) and is expected to be less than PLN 100 billion (EUR 22.4 billion) for the whole year.

"We have a considerable buffer, as we expected a deficit of several dozen billion in November. We will pre-finance some of the expenses for 2021," he announced. (PAP)
