About 5,000 Warsaw policemen will be involved in protecting a rally of the Hells Angels, a motorbike club with a notorious reputation around the world. Interior Minister Mariusz Blaszczak has assured that that the rally will be monitored by police.

According to media, the Hells Angels' world rally will take place in Rynia, just north of Warsaw, between Friday and Sunday. The club has several thousand members around the world, with part of them suspected of criminal connections.

"We have been monitoring the case. We have not been aware of it since yesterday, but for many months. Police are making sure that citizens of our country are safe," Minister Blaszczak said.

According to deputy Police Commander-in-Chief Andrzej Szymczyk, a dozen or so officers from other countries who deal with the issues of motorcycle gangs have already arrived in Poland to assist local police. (PAP)
