Poland supports a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the country's foreign minister has said.

Radoslaw Sikorski made the statement at Wednesday press conference in Weimar following a meeting with his French and German counterparts as part of the Weimar Triangle, an intergovernmental cooperation formula between Warsaw, Paris and Berlin.

Earlier in the day, Ireland, Norway and Spain announced that they would recognise a Palestinian state.

"Poland has recognised the statehood of Palestine for several decades," Sikorski said.

He added that Poland, along with 143 countries, had voted at the UN for Palestine's membership in the UN, that is "raising its status" in the organisation.

"It was not a vote against anyone, especially not against Israel, but for a two-state solution," Sikorski said.

"We will support the efforts of the High Representative of the European Union (Joseph Borell - PAP) and other countries that believe that some long-term, stable solution is needed," he added.

Sikorski also commented on the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to seek arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the country's Defence Minister Yoav Galant and three Hamas leaders over actions taken during their seven-month war in the Gaza Strip.

"As for the actions of the International Criminal Court, we support them," he said. (PAP)
